‘Runaway’ Sista Afia grinds Eno Barony and Freda Rhymz in a ‘Medikal-flavored’ diss song

After denying ever jabbing singer Sister Derby in her ‘WMT’ song although music fanatics said some of the lyrics were so glaring, Sista Afia has released another song punctuated with jabs.

Titled ‘You Got Nerves’, Sista Afia on the hip-hop tune appears to be taking a dig at rappers Eno Barony and Freda Rhymz.

How and why Freda Rhymz?

Not only did Sista Afia throw jabs in her ‘WMT’ song; she claimed she raps better than any Ghanaian female rapper although many know her to be a singer.

Born Freda Baffour Awuah, rapper Freda Rhymz, winner of the sixth season of the MTN Hitmaker music reality show, found it absurd Sista Afia’s decision to brag about being the ‘queen’.

To register her displeasure, Freda, released ‘KMT’. She tagged Sista Afia as an emotional singer who is so much frustrated that she’s had to become a rapper. In summary, the rap game is not Sista Afia’s turf!

“Emotional singers, afei moadane rappers,” she said. “I bi the girl with the flex, your style is limited we got the specs.”

In ‘You’ve Got Nerves’, Sista Afia attacks Freda Rhymz, likening her backside to a sim card.

“Ono saa chick no, ne to feaa tese Vodafone chip no,” she rapped in Twi. To wit, “That girl, that girl with a small behind like a Vodafone chip.”

The Eno Barony jab

After Freda Rhymz released her song and courted controversy, Eno Barony countered.

Touting herself as the ‘Rap Goddess’, the Tema-based rapper said Sista Afia cannot be named in list of rappers because she is a toddler. Freda Ryhmz was not spared the rod either.

“Hwe gyimifo no, ode ahopepre ato punch agye animguase,” a line in the song said – translated as ‘the blockhead thought she was throwing jabs but ended up disgracing herself’.

“Mmarima yi feature omo ho ako omo anim no, ato mmaa ne beef. Mooye nso a, ase mooso ahwe,” she continued. To wit, ‘the males are featuring each other for progress but the females are fighting and it even appears they are joking’.

The response from Sista Afia in her ‘You’ve Got Nerves’, like Freda Rhymz’s focused on Eno’s stature, among others.

“Punch on point! I dey do better kyen saa rapper no a woahyehye se beef burger,” Sista Afia said, meaning she does better than that ‘beef burger’ looking rapper.

She posited that Eno ought to rather be a contestant for ‘Di Asa’, a dance reality show for thick, fat women. Following that line was another jab. She remarked that Eno has been an underground artiste despite doing music for many years.

“You started this rap journey years ago. Your first born would have been 15,” she taunted.

‘You’ve Got Nerves’ composed by Medikal?

It is unclear whether Sista Afia composed the song or a ‘ghost writer’ did. What is clear, however is that the lyrics and delivery have signatures of Medikal.

Why Naa Ashorkor was sacked by Multimedia

Enewsgh.com can now confirm the possible reason behind former Multimedia presenter, Naa Ashorkor’s axing.

Many Ghanaian media organisations, because they own plural outfits, run a convergence model; one that requires employees, though primarily engaged on one platform, to also lend assistance on another.

Per accounts of deep-throat sources available to Enewsgh.com, Ashorkor is alleged to have consistently found ways to swerve her television obligations, an action that has occasioned the termination of her contract.

Enewsgh.com also gathers that Ashorkor, who was paid a month’s salary in lieu of the notice of her sacking. She is not the only Multimedia employee that should be exiting the outfit around this period. Others may be axed our sources say.

Earlier today, in a Facebook post announcing her departure from the Multimedia Group, Ashorkor, who also moonlights as a successful actress among other professions, failed to specify the reason for her axing, opting instead to conclude her statement with a hope spiel.

EXPLAINER:

She was a Service Provider employed for both Radio and Television. Most media establishments in Ghana employ the Convergence model, where employees are required to work across the various properties of the stable under one contract document

– Management had reason to believe she consistently and deliberately neglected the television aspect of her engagement

– She will be paid one month salary in lieu of the decision to terminate her appointment

– She gets an extra month’s salary to see her through the period.

Oboy Siki exposes Kumawood actors; reveals ‘small’ money they were going to give Bernard Nyarko

Kumawood actor Oboy Siki has spoken on the passing of his colleague, Bishop Bernard Nyarko

Following the news of his passing, it has emerged that Bishop Nyarko ordered his mother not to allow any of his colleagues to visit him calling them hypocrites

– In his latest interview, Oboy Siki has backed Bishop Nyarko’s decision saying the Kumawood actors would have done exactly what the deceased feared

– Oboy Siki who also chastised his colleagues who are claiming they wanted to give money to Bishop Nyarko revealed that they could not have contributed more than GHC5,000

Kumawood actor Kwabena Ofori Agyemang, popularly known as Dada Santo or Oboy Siki, has defended the late Bishop Bernard Nyarko’s decision not to allow his acting colleagues to visit him on his sickbed.

Bishop Nyarko passed away at the Ridge Hospital on Saturday, May 2, 2020, after reportedly battling colonl cancer.

Before his passing, many of Bishop Nyarko’s colleagues in Kumawood had lamented that the late actor’s mother was refusing them access to see him.

One of them was Dada Santo who made the complaint during an interview on Adom FM a few months ago.

Following his passing, it has emerged that Bishop Nyarko had ordered his mother not to allow any of his colleagues to come and see and even described them as hypocrites.

Speaking in an interview on KOFI TV, Dada Santo has supported the deceased’s decision as he agrees with his description of their colleagues as hypocrites.

According to him, just like Bishop Nyarko had said, some of the colleagues would have only gone there to take pictures of his poor state and circulate on social media.

“He came out himself to say that he instructed his mother not to allow anybody to see him because the industry players are hypocrites who would have just come to take pictures to post on social media and I understood him because they would have truly done that,” Oboy Siki said.

Oboy Siki went on to chastise his colleagues who are claiming that they wanted to visit Bishop Nyarko and offer financial support.

In a big revelation, Oboy Siki indicated that the Kumawood actors could never contribute more than GHC5,000 to cedis to their ailing colleague.

Explaining his point, the aged actor stated that the only tangible welfare package for Kumawood actors was by instituted by Miracle Films which is named the Gold and Silver. While the Gold caters for the established stars, the Silver caters for upcoming ones.

Describing the GHC5,000 highest donation as paltry, Oboy Siki wondered how it was going to help take care of Bishop Nyarko who probably had to travel outside for treatment.

According to him, the only support that comes in for an industry player is from Gold and Silver sources of donation Miracle Films created to give a donation of GH¢ 5,000.00 in times of need.

“The Gold was for the people with stardom and the silver for the upcoming players and the young people and I had GH¢ 5,000.00 when my father died. So there would have been no money for them to support him.

“Even if we were to support, that would have been GH¢ 5,000.00 and was that the money he would have used for his treatment outside the country?” he retorted.

Meanwhile, Gideon Kankam Nyarko, the eldest son of the late Bishop Nyarko has recounted his father’s last words to him before his demise.

In an interview, Gideon who is also the first child of the late Kumawood actor described his father as his motivator, counselor, teacher and pastor

Lilwin came under serious backlash after he uploaded a video of himself shedding tears for Bernard to his YouTube page and subsequently activating the monetisation bottom.

Reacting to this, Lilwin told his critics to cut him some slack.

“When Santo, Kofi B, and others died, people recorded their tears and uploaded to YouTube..so what is wrong if I do some?” he said in his latest interview.

Full gallons of suspected human blood found at shrine

The gallons of blood were found at the shrine on Thursday

Gallons filled with suspected human blood were discovered at the shrine in the Eastern Region where a special police team raided last Thursday and exhumed some remains, DAILY GUIDE has learnt.

The two fetish priests who have been arrested in connection with the heinous crimes have reportedly confessed killing two people and burying them at the shrine.

News Conference

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service yesterday held a news conference detailing the circumstances under which at least two people were killed by the suspects.

CID Boss DCOP Ken Yeboah officially mentioned the names of the fetish priests as Christian Lawoe Gameli aka Power-One, 36, and Famous Adukonu aka Scorpion, 37, both from Afife in the Volta Region.

He said they were operating a shrine called ‘Power 1 Herbal & Spiritual Centre’ located at Adu Kwadwo and Kofi Nyarko villages near Maame Dede Junction on the Nsawam to Adeiso road in the Upper West Akyem District of the Eastern Region.

Confession Time

The suspects allegedly confessed to the murder of a 64-year-old ex-soldier, Edward Quartey Papafio, a Biochemist Consultant from Kasoa in the Central Region and also killed one Kwashie Zormelo, a mason whose service was engaged by the fetish priests.

According to the CID, Zormelo also resided at Kasoa.

He said the two fetish priests have been remanded in police custody by a court in Accra and investigation is ongoing.

Guns Found

The CID boss said that the fetish priests were armed because the police retrieved two pump action guns, a single barrel gun together with 11 packets full of cartridges from Christian Lawoe’s room.

“On April 29, 2020 both suspects admitted having interacted with the missing person, Edward Quartey Papafio, for some time, but he was later shot and killed on January 15, 2020 at their shrine,” he added.

Burying Body

The CID boss said, “The suspects reiterated that the first body was buried at a particular spot within the shrine and led the police to the scene,” adding “the area was secured for an exhumation order to be granted by the court.”

“On April 30, 2020, the police, including a pathologist, personnel of the crime scene management unit, forensic science laboratory, Drone and CID operation unit went to Maame Dede and executed the exhumation order granted by the court,” he stated.

DCOP Yeboah said, “On arrival, the two suspects led the police to the scene behind the house which has been walled with a small entry but no exit where the two identified the deceased’s grave,” adding “the pathologist retrieved a decomposed body from the grave.”

Second Body

“A second decomposed body whose name suspect Christian Gamele Lawoe aka Power gave as Kwashie Zormelo from Kasoa was also retrieved from another grave,” he said.

He indicated that the team later exhumed human parts, hairs, attachments, beads suspected to be that of a woman and other bones from a third grave all within the same perimeter.

A decomposed body with bones wrapped in a cloth buried among the bodies was also retrieved from the yard.

According to the CID boss, investigations later established that in December 2019, the two suspects conspired to kill the biochemist.

“The suspects, therefore, lured the victim into the shrine and succeeded in collecting about GH¢10,000 from him under the pretext that they were going to fortify him spiritually to enable his company to flourish,” he added.

Phone Invitation

“On January 15, 2020 the suspect invited the biochemist on phone to come for the last purification rites and in the process shot and killed him.

“Suspect Gameli Lawoe aka Power after committing the crime took possession of the deceased’s Itel and Nokia mobile phones which he kept with Charity Dakudzi, his third wife at Mensah Ba, Oyibi.

“He later led police to the said house where the deceased’s two mobile phones were retrieved together with his bunch of keys,” he said, adding “suspect Famous Adukonu aka Scorpion on the other hand intimated that he shot and killed Papafio on that fateful day with pump action gun belonging to his accomplice.”

Victim’s Cash

DCOP Yeboah said the suspects also admitted having collected all monies on Papafio before killing him.

“Further investigations established that suspect Christian Gameli murdered Kwashie Zormelo, a Togolese but resident at Kasoa and one of his masons sometime February 2020 when the victim, demanded money the suspect owed him,” he said.

The decomposed bodies, human remains and bones have been deposited at the Police Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem and anthropological and DNA examination.

Coronavirus-Dumsor politics: Dr Bawumia was spot on with analysis – Adom-Otchere

Paul Adom-Otchere

Paul Adom Otchere has backed the Vice President in his analysis of the economy in times of crises that befell the erstwhile Mahama administration and what the Akufo-Addo administration is dealing with now.

According to Adom-Otchere who hosts Good Evening Ghana, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s comparison was not “apples and oranges” but rather it is economic crisis and the variations that followed it.

The Good Evening Ghana host noted on his show on Tuesday that, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) will find solace in the kind of investments their administration has done with respect to cushioning Ghanaians for prosperity.

He explained that the Akufo-Addo-led administration had to restore the nurses and teachers training allowances, “That’s taking money from the kitty to pay nurses and teachers. They will say that they have spent money to pay free SHS i.e. looking after secondary school students all over the country starting from year one, two and three. Distribution of Ambulances to all the constituencies or districts…”

This, Adom Otchere believes is an investment the Akufo-Addo administration has done from the national kitty; something the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) didn’t make whilst in government.

“In spite of making these investments the NPP government made sure that the country exited the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in normal times,” Adom-Otchere explained further.

On the part of the NDC, Paul indicated that the opposition during their time in government was able to invest in infrastructure; something that has really helped since the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus in Ghana.

“Even if the NDC didn’t pay nurses and teachers training allowances, even if they didn’t pay free SHS, even if they didn’t get the Ambulances, the NDC was able to invest in health infrastructure,” he added.

Paul Adom-Otchere further stated that the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus forced the ruling party to borrow money from the IMF.

This money the government borrowed, Paul observed, has been invested back into the people of Ghana in terms of providing free water to all Ghanaians for three months, reduction in electricity prices, and has made it free for lifeline consumers, stimulus package of GHC600 million for businesses and the domestic production of PPEs (personal protective equipment) for our health workers locally.

The vice president has been criticized for questioning what the NDC did during their administration to solve the Dumsor, which was a local crisis, which according to the vice president, was created by the NDC itself.

Supreme Court grants relief of extension in Ofosu-Ampofo’s trial

Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo

The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted leave of extension of time to enable the Attorney General (AG) respond to a motion filed by Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, the Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The five-member panel, chaired by the Chief Justice, Mr Kwasi Anin Yeboah, gave the AG two weeks to study the motion filed by the applicant and thereafter adjourned the suit sine dine.

Mr Tony Lithur, the lead lawyer for Mr Ofosu-Ampofo, did not object to the grant of extension of time.

Mrs Yvonne Atakorah Obuobisa, the Director of Public Prosecution, had told the court that the AG received the motion late.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo, being tried jointly with Mr Anthony Kwaku Boahen, NDC Deputy Communication Officer, at the High Court on conspiracy to commit assault against public officers – the chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) and the chairman of the National Peace Council (NPC) – had proceeded to the Supreme Court after the Court refused a motion of stay.

An application was filed by the lawyers of Mr Ofosu-Ampofo at the Commercial Divisional High Court, where the trial is pending, seeking for a stay of proceedings whilst an appeal at the Court of Appeal was ongoing.

The application challenging the decision of the High Court to adopt the ‘controversial witness’ statement of Mr Benjamin Osei Ampofo Adjei, the first prosecution witness, and staff of Multimedia Group (Adom FM) was refused.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo and Mr Boahen are standing trial over an alleged leaked tape, in which the National Chairman allegedly incited violence against both the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) and the Chairman of the National Peace Council (NPC).

The two have pleaded not guilty to a count of conspiracy to commit assault against a public officer, while Mr Ofosu-Ampofo has pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault against a public officer.

They have been granted a GHC100,000.00 bail with a surety each.

Sports: Return of sport would ‘lift the nation’ says Dominic Raab at daily briefing

Leicester beat Aston Villa in the last match in the Premier League before lockdown

Restarting sport in Britain would “lift the spirits of the nation” amid the coronavirus crisis, foreign secretary Dominic Raab said on Tuesday.

Speaking at Downing Street’s daily briefing he said the government “has had constructive meetings with sports bodies”.

He said talks had focused on athletes resuming training when safe to do so.

And he added that the culture secretary was looking at plans to hold sports behind closed doors.

“I think it would lift spirits of the nation,” Raab said.

“People would like to see us get back to work and children can go to school safely but also pastimes like sport.”

Discussions about the Premier League’s return are continuing but there had been no official comment from the government.

The Premier League is hopeful of restarting in the week beginning 8 June with matches behind closed doors. Plans for games at neutral venues have been suggested in a bid to get the season finished.

“I can tell you that the culture secretary has been working on a plan to get sport played behind closed doors when we move to the second phase so that is something we are looking at,” Raab said.

“Of course, the key point though – we can only do it when the medical advice and scientific advice is that it can be done safely and sustainably. But certainly that is something under active consideration.”

Speaking to Radio 4’s Today programme earlier on Tuesday, health secretary Matt Hancock said he was “open” to the idea of the Premier League returning if there was enough testing being done.

“But we’ve got to make decisions about what the relative priorities are of all the different things that could be reopened,” he added.

Former health secretary Jeremy Hunt also told the Today programme football should resume.

“It can, and it should. And it is our national sport. And when people are stuck at home, this is the kind of thing that would lift people’s morale and its spirit.”
