My love and respect for Nana Addo just increased to 100% – Bibi Bright

President Akufo-Addo has received both praise and criticism from the public after he lifted the ban on the partial lockdown.

According to Bibi Bright, “It takes a bold President to take the decisions he has taken in fighting this deadly virus. To pay water bills for every Ghanaian for three months is no joke. Just look at the drastic measures he took in fighting the virus.

“Giving soft loans to businesses and making sure everyone is comfortable is just overwhelming. Everyone is praising him because he is a good President and cares about his people,” she told Graphic Showbiz recently.

Bibi Bright who is a staunch supporter of the NPP explained that her admiration for the President is not because she is a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) but because of the fact that Nana Addo has proven to be the best President any country could ask for.

The actress believes that with his achievements over the short period of four years, Nana Addo is bound to win the elections when we go to the polls December this year.

“If we have Nigerians and other African countries praising Nana Addo for his good efforts to take this country to the next level, then it means he is doing something right and it is about time we all rallied behind him and gave him the support he needs to rule this country,” she said.

Bibi Bright went ahead to advise Ghanaians to adhere to the rules set out by the health minister to remain safe.

“He said we should stay home while the authorities fight this pandemic and I will plead with Ghanaians to obey that. We are all trying to fight this virus and stand together again because it is not easy to stay home, lose money by not attending to your businesses and other engagements,” she stated.

Ola Michael fires Kennedy Agyapong for tarnishing the reputation of ‘innocent’ ladies

Producer, entertainment critic and presenter, Ola Michael in a Facebook has slammed Kennedy Agyapong for tarnishing the images of 13 ladies who he allegedly said have slept with Bishop Obinim.

Kennedy Agyapong did the name-calling on his TV station, Net 2 on Monday.

In a long Facebook post sighted by ghbase.com, Ola questioned the logic behind this whole agenda to make the innocent ladies look ‘bad’.

Read his full post below:

A member of parliament, is on TV, showing pictures of innocent ladies, destroying their image and dignity, and all I see is people happily watching on.

The same man who knows tapes can be doctored, when he was arrested for treason, is today relying on tapes and pictures to malign the dignity of Ghanaian ladies.

And intelligent men and women are happily enjoying it without questioning him. It is not your sister. So, it is cool. Wait till it happens to you or your sister.

He alleges these girls are Obinim’s girlfriends and we all take it hook, line and sinker?

Wasn’t it the same man who showed you a video of Obinim and daughter and told you the girl was his girlfriend?

There are people in this country who are also supposed to defend the vulnerable but they are all enjoying the show.

The man has not been able to show a single se3kxtape to substantiate the girls are indeed his girlfriends but depending on lies and the same gossips he is espousing.

How many times haven’t we been accused of fucking some girl you were so close to? When indeed you were not but cus people just can’t be just friends with beautiful ladies without removing their panties, they expect each man to be subject to the very weakness they possess.

The Honorable Member of Parliament is blissfully displaying pictures of some ladies and saying for the others they are married, he won’t show theirs, lest it destroys their marriages. Doesn’t it confuse you?

He shouldn’t also show the pictures of the other ladies cus they may be dating and their fiances would also break up with them! Doesn’t he also know that these girls he’s showing, if not married now, will also not get husbands because a rich man lied about them? That is the country we live in.

The poor man’s rights and dignity mean nothing when the rich man speaks.

The poor are always destroyed by the rich and they have no one to defend them. The viewers are enjoying it cus as dimwits and callous as we are, we always enjoy seeing a Ghanaian being destroyed by the other. It is indeed a beautiful sight for comedy.

Let’s keep supporting the rich to keep violating, defacing and spitting on the human rights of the poor. The only times I hear of someone suing the other for defamation of character has been between rich people suing the other or poor ones.

Hardly the other way round. Yes in our country human rights is for the rich alone and not the poor. Let’s be careful what we support today. Cus when it happens to you.Source: ghbase.com

Govt unable to explain why GHS site reports 1,042 COVID-19 cases from April 13

We’ve not done everything as a Government – Minister

Deputy Minister for Information Pius Hadzide was unable to explain why the Ghana Health Service’s official site for COVID-19 updates reported 1,042 cases on their graph from April 13.

A former Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Professor Agyeman Badu Akosa in an interview with Citi TV said the government of Ghana is massaging the figures of the COVID-19 cases recorded.

According to Prof. Akosa, looking at the graph on the website shows that the case count went up to 1,042 as of April 13 but government did not report.

“Let me say that surprisingly you go to the Ghana Health Service website and you will realise that on the 13th of April that had been the number that was positive but somehow that number only came out when the President addressed us on Sunday.”

He stated that the figures are being managed in a manner that is suitable for the government.

“So in a sense, I am seeing that the results are probably are coming in but the results are being managed in a manner that might look suitable because on the 13th that 1,042 came out and it was immediately removed but interestingly yesterday the 1,042 came out but if you go and look, their graph tells me that was the number we attained on the 13th of April. These are the issues that worry some of us why we could not hold on and make sure we could zone the country and testing centres, currently you moving samples from Upper West to Kumasi why?…”

Responding to the alleged management of the figures and the capacity of the various testing facilities, Pius Hadzide said he cannot state the capacity of the centres testing for Covid-19.

“We do know the facilities that are testing, Noguchi and KCCR not just these, Korle Bu is also testing and so on we can find these details from the various institutions.”

Pius Hadzide explained how the figures are aggregated and validated.

“The figures emanate from the various testing centres, what happens is that these test results are conducted at these centres and the results are transmitted to the Ghana Health Service’s surveillance division and the directorate at the service aggregate all these figures and communicate same either through their website or they send the information to the central government, the Ministry of Information or the Presidency so we do not generate the figures, we barely communicate the figures as validated and transmitted by the Ghana Health Service.”

He said he is scandalised by the comment of Prof Akosa and described his statement at the unfortunate.

“I am particularly scandalized hearing that the man of the standing of Professor Akosa allegedly will make those comments, accusing the government of managing the figures without providing any quota of evidence I think… below the belt and it is unfortunate.”

On issues of why the graph shows 1,042, Pius Hadzide was not able to explain why it is so and said even if that happens the Professor should have consulted the Ghana Health Service and not accuse the government of massaging the figures.

“You cannot use that to accuse the central government of managing the figures you will have to interrogate this with the people who aggregate the data and validate it…”

Is government misleading Ghanaians with coronavirus data? -CHECK THIS

It has emerged that the Government of Ghana is misleading Ghanaians with a high number of figures which is considered as the number of cases tested so far.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Sunday, April 19, 2020, through his televised broadcast noted that Ghana has so far tested 68,591 people for the Coronavirus.

He said that the 68,591 was out of 86,000 contacts which the country had traced.

He explained: “There is, thus, a backlog of some 18,000 tests whose results are yet to be received. The overwhelming majority of these contacts have been established in the last three weeks of the partial lockdown in Accra and Kumasi. Out of this number, 1,042 persons, i.e. 1.5%, have been confirmed as positive, with 67,549, i.e. 98.5%, testing negative; 99 persons have recovered and have been discharged; and 930 persons, who have been isolated, are responding to treatment either in their homes or in treatment facilities.”

Meanwhile, Ghanaians are being told that for patients to be discharged, they need to be tested at least thrice to prove that they are negative before they could be discharged.

Situating this argument with the number of people recovered, namely, 99 patients, it implies that the 68,591 government is claiming to be the number of patients tested so far is false.

Therefore, if the 99 patients who have recovered were tested three times (99 by 3 =297), and add that to the number of tests so far, the total number of tests conducted since the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus in Ghana will not be the 68,591; here it is inflated but in reality, it must be less. This implies that the figures are not a true reflection of the actually less number of people tested.

Dr Bernard Okoe-Boye, a Deputy Minister for Health admitted on Citi TV that indeed the figures do not give a true reflection but rather they aid the statistics of the health workers.

He added even the numbers appear to have been increased to create a certain impression per critical analysis, they give a significant number if the actual figures are used.

Dr Okoe-Boye explained that “if you’ve tested 50,000 of which some have to be tested two or three times, the figure [50,000] is needed for your statistics. Remember without that number of tests, you couldn’t have recorded the said figure…

“There are two ways to look at it…you look at it from the number of tests you’ve done, to show that you are investing resources into the number of the testing regime but in terms of the coverage I admit it if you want to take it out to have a true reflection.”

Ghanaians are already doubting the figures that are being recorded on the official COVID-19 website managed by Ghana Health Service.

On the website, the graph representation shows that already the data is flattened without any number of data from April 14 to April 19, 2020. As to what that means the health officials need to explain further.

About 15,000 Ghanaians could die from coronavirus – Dr Nsiah-Asare predicts

Presidential Advisor on Health, Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare, has projected that about 15,000 people may die from the deadly coronavirus based on a model generated for the infectious disease in Ghana.

This revelation comes after President Akufo-Addo on Sunday, April 19, 2020 lifted the ban on the partial lockdown in Greater Accra, Tema, Kasoa and Greater Kumasi.

Dr Nsiah-Asare in an interview indicated that 10% of the Ghanaian population may probably test positive for the virus before the country’s case count on coronavirus gets to the peak of the infection.

He also noted that out of the 10% Ghanaians who are likely to contract the disease, a lot of the cases are likely to be asymptomatic.

“We expect that about 10% of the population may be infected and out of the 10% of the population 80% may not show signs or symptoms at all and 5% of them will be very ill. That is the projection,” he said.

The former director-general of Ghana Health Service made these comments on Accra based station, Joy News on Tuesday, April 21, 2020.

With Ghana having a population of about 30 million people, 10% of this population is 3,000,000. Meaning, 3,000,000 Ghanaians may contract the virus.

5% of the projected three million infections falling seriously sick means that about 150, 000 will fall within this group.

Out of the 150,000 people whose case will be critical, 10% will be fatal; meaning 15,000 deaths will be recorded.

Dr Nsiah-Asare, however, noted that a new model of projection may not strictly applyto Ghana due to the dynamics of cases recorded in the country.

“If you look at the cases that we are seeing, the cases that are getting critical are very, very small…it means, we have a situation where this hypothesis may be the case in Ghana,” he highlighted.

Currently, Ghana’s coronavirus case count is 1,042 with 99 persons recovered and 9 deaths.

Lockdown, curfew will be imposed if preventive measures are flouted – Oppong Nkrumah

Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has warned if Ghanaians flout other measures put in place to stop the spread of the virus and there is a spike of infections, a more draconian measure will be imposed.

President Nana Akufo-Addo on Sunday lifted a three-week partial lockdown imposed in the Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi districts.

Some videos that have emerged on social media show some persons jubilating and dancing in celebration for ‘gaining their freedom’ after the President’s announcement.

Reports gathered by Peace FM correspondents a day after the lifting indicate that large numbers of Ghanaians have flooded town especially the markets.

Unfortunately, most of these people are neither observing the social distancing rule nor wearing masks as directed by the President.

Some pundits have expressed fear that with the lifting of the restriction on movements, there might be community spread.

Speaking to this in an interview on Peace FM’s morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah averred that if people refuse to adhere to other measures including social distancing and there is an increase in infections, a total lockdown, and a curfew will be imposed as the President outlined in his address.

“If we continue adhering to the other measures, we don’t expect a spike of infections. The 14 other regions where there was no lockdown, we didn’t see any spike, but if people keep being stubborn, and there is a spike, a lockdown and a curfew will be imposed,” he stated.

COVID-19: There Is No ”False Positive” Case In Ghana – GHS Director General Debunks Claims

Ghana has recorded 1042 positive cases of COVID-19 and 99 recovery cases. More than 60,000 people whose samples were collected through contact tracing and other enhanced testing approaches have tested negative for the virus.

However, rumourmongers have cast doubts over the number of positive cases, saying the samples of some of the people who have tested positive might not be the actual case. The claim is that there might be “false positve” cases.

Addressing the issue, the Director General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye debunked the claims that there may be persons mistakenly testing positive for Coronavirus in the country.

Although admitting the possibility of “false” positive cases when conducting a test, Dr. Patrick Kuma Aboagye explained that the Health Service uses the global Polymerise Chain Reaction (PCR) test to check for the presence of the virus in the samples.

The PCR test is a method used to detect viral genetic material called RNA or antigen to tell whether or not someone has the virus. This testing technique is used globally to check the presence of COVID-19.

The GHS Director General wants Ghanaians to know that the research centers in charge of testing samples for the virus are using this standard method and there is no way any result could be faulty.

It detects the virus to locate where the virus is. What they are doing is very specific for COVID-19. So, if you use some rapid test to check your antibody meaning your body producing something when you become exposed, that is what can give you false positive. But for what we’re doing, I can assure that, short of maybe a missing report; I won’t say false positive is a problem’,‘ he told host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM‘s ‘Kokrokoo’ program.
